Museum Of The Romanian Peasant

This joyful museum (Muzeul Taranului Roman; ® 212 9661; Jos Kiseleff 3; adult/child €2/0.50; ® 10am-6pm Tue-Sun) is the best museum in all of Romania. Amazingly, inside you'll find the carcass of an 18th-century Transyl-vanian wooden church among other rural treasures. It's a favourite for kids. Downstairs is the must-see Communism Exhibition, which has the only surviving portraits of Ceau^escu, several thoughtful Lenins and heart-rending accounts of those who objected to collectivisation. Set aside at least three hours for your visit.
